Connecting the Dots: QR Codes Explained

Connecting the Dots: QR Codes Explained

We have all seen them on advertisements in the streets; a white square with a seemingly random collection of black squares and dots inside. QR codes (short for “quick response”) are able to fit a large amount of data into a tiny space. Codes are scanned through a cell phone, and lead the user to either a website, app download, or discount code (among other uses).

QR code gift card programGiftFly generates a unique QR code when a customer purchases a GiftFly which stores their gift card balance and other information to make the eGift card easy to redeem for our merchants. The GiftFly merchant app contains a QR code reader, which scans the unique GiftFly to accept it as a form of payment. From there, the merchant inputs the amount into the app, and it is deducted from the balance of the gift card. If there is a balance remaining on the card, the customer will be emailed with their new card and updated value. It is a hassle-free solution for easy redemption and tracking, plus all your transactions show up in real-time on the app and on your Merchant Dashboard.

You can generate a QR code for your business to add to print ads, in-store promotions, or even window clings to drive mobile traffic directly to your GiftFly store-front. Customize it with an image and get creative to get more scans.

Happy Scanning!

Selling for Dads and Grads: Spend Summer on the Fly!

Selling for Dads and Grads: Spend Summer on the Fly!

We know; you are still picking up the bright decorations from Mother’s Day, but there are two more groups of people that your business has to sell to. If they have not already, thousands of students will be leaving their colleges and seeking employment. In addition, Father’s Day is coming on June 21. Of course, every store front has their “Dads and Grads” banner out, but to get the customers and revenue that you want, your online gift cards need to offer something extra.

To explain how your business can do this, we will start with graduates. Nowadays, most college students do not magically leap from the classroom into a cubicle. There is a period of time where they will be on their laptops, searching the job boards for potential employment. Coffee shop owners should take advantage of this sudden wave of potential business by making their store friendly to recent graduates. Doing so is as simple as saying that with each GiftFly redemption, you can get a free item (example: with the purchase of a coffee, you get a free scone).

Graduates are also going to need new clothes for the seemingly endless amount of interviews that they will be going on, and the new jobs that they will be starting. If you own a clothing store, put yourself at the forefront of this revenue opportunity by offering discounts on dress clothing. Customers will definitely spend over the value of their gift card if they think that they are getting more for their money.

Finally, some students will not be going into the workforce immediately, opting instead to take some time and go into graduate school. This means, among other things, that more books will need to be bought. Bookstores can get in on this revenue by offering textbooks and test prep books at enough of a discount that it will give students a reason to pick your business over the larger chains.

With dads, the key is creativity. Fathers are tired of being given the same old socks every year. Most of the time, what they really want to do is one thing: get up early, and hit the golf course. If you own a golf course and are searching for a way to get a lot of dads on the tee box, offer something like a 2 round-for-1 deal. The value alone will bring in a lot of old, loyal customers, who will bring their friends (and potential new customers) and spread the word about your course.

After a long day on the links, not much goes better than a nice steak dinner. Your restaurant can cater specifically to dads, offering meal packages exclusively for fathers, or their families. It can be a fixed menu, a discount, or anything that you think will drive more sales and traffic to your business.

Summer represents a lot of opportunities for revenue, and the selling begins now. This is your time to be creative, get your name out there, and integrate yourself into the community.

GiftFly’s Tips for Mother’s Day

GiftFly’s Tips for Mother’s Day

If you own a business that sells clothing, books, or any general kind of gifts, you are probably in for a big week of extra revenue. Mother’s Day is coming up, and your business is likely prepared for the rush of daughters, sons and significant others that will be looking to purchase something for the special mothers in their lives. Getting the most out of the customer experience is the best way for you to make money from this holiday. At GiftFly, we have combed the Internet, looking for the promotions that we think will garner your business as much foot traffic (and ensuing revenue) as possible.

Mother's Day Gift Cards

These days, promotion begins online. Be it on social media or on your website, the best way to advertise is throughyour presence on the Internet. Your website would do well to carry items specifically tailored to Mother’s Day, and feature them prominently on your front page as a part of a “gift guide”. This guide can be linked to your Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets. In addition, put your specialty items on a holiday board on your Pinterest account as part of a giveaway. Every pin that your followers post is an entry to win a particular item.

If you want to market your business through an in-store promotion, you need to follow one distinct principle: make it worth your customers’ effort. Offer your Mother’s Day items at a discount. You will profit selling more products at a discounted rate than less products at a higher price. Free gift-wrapping is not necessarily something that will bring people in the doors, but is a nice, convenient touch to add to the experience. Finally, host an event for moms that is friendly for kids. A brunch event and/or live music always brings in people. You set your business up to cash in on extremely-last-minute revenue, and position yourself as a place to go for the holiday.

As a final/finishing touch to your online gift card, why not create a decoration that customers can print out and use as a holder for your gift card, or utilize as part of a gift basket? Whatever you decide to do, make the day special.

You can download your Mother’s Day promotional assets including the email blast you see below, banner ads, card backgrounds and social media posts here: GiftFly Mother’s Day Assets
